Phnom Kulen National Park (also called Kulen Mountain) is about 50 km from Siem Reap. It is home to the River of a Thousand Lingas, the Kulen waterfalls and Preah Ang Thom, a 16th-century pagoda with Cambodia’s largest reclining Buddha. Every foreign visitor needs a national park ticket, and it is not part of your Angkor Pass. Here is what it costs, where to buy it and how to pay.

The $20 price is what you pay at the ticket booth at the mountain. Tickets bought in advance at the national park office in City Angkor Hotel are discounted. The ticket is valid for one day and covers the whole national park, including the waterfalls, the River of a Thousand Lingas and Preah Ang Thom pagoda. Keep it with you for the day.
Is Phnom Kulen included in the Angkor Pass?
No. Phnom Kulen is not managed by the APSARA National Authority, which runs Angkor Wat and the other Angkor temples, so the Angkor Pass (currently $37 for one day, $62 for three days or $72 for seven days) will not get you in. Budget for the $20 Kulen ticket separately.
Where can I buy a Phnom Kulen ticket?
1. The national park office at City Angkor Hotel
Phnom Kulen National Park runs a small ticket office inside City Angkor Hotel on National Road 6 (Airport Road) in Siem Reap. This is the best place to buy: tickets here are discounted compared with the $20 you pay at the mountain, and with your ticket in hand you can drive straight through the checkpoint.
2. Through your hotel or a travel agency
Most hotels, guesthouses and travel agencies in Siem Reap can buy a ticket for you. If you book a tour, check whether the ticket is included. On every Kulen Revealed tour, it is.
3. At the ticket booth at the mountain
Arrived without a ticket? You can pay the full $20 fee in cash at the ticket booth at the checkpoint at the foot of the mountain, before the road starts to climb.
How do I pay?
The entrance fee is cash only, paid in US dollars or Cambodian riel. Unlike Angkor Wat, there is no card payment for the Kulen ticket, so bring small, clean notes. If you would rather pay by card, buy through a travel agency in town that accepts cards, or book a tour that includes the ticket. Bring extra cash for the day too: lunch on the mountain is around $5 a plate.
When should I arrive?
The main road up Phnom Kulen is one-way. Cars can drive up between 7:00 and 11:00am. After 11:00 the road is closed while the last vehicles finish the climb, and at around 11:45am it opens in the other direction so cars can come down.
